OPEG was founded in 1980 by program evaluators in mental health organizations. Since then, ihas grown to a vibrant organization of evaluators across Ohio and in neighboring states and represents a cross section of agencies, institutions, and fields.

We are a volunteer-run nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization which:

  • Seeks to promote quality evaluation and research as critical components of service delivery programs in Ohio
  • Supports those who conduct evaluations, whether part- or full-time
  • Is open to anyone with an interest in evaluation, students as well as professionals

OPEG Board Nominations for 2020-2021 Open!

It is time again for OPEG Board elections. This year there are two officer openings (President and Vice President) and one Student Member At Large. In order to have a robust election and diverse, representative Board we encourage all members to consider running for these open positions.

All Board terms are for two years, with one re-election allowed.  At-large positions are for one year.  There are about five phone meetings and one in-person meeting per year.   No previous expertise is required.

At-Large Board members take on OPEG responsibilities as needed, such as Newsletter Editor or Membership Committee Chair.  It’s a great way to get to know regional evaluators, to better understand how a professional association operates, and to work with a group of interesting, dedicated colleagues on exciting initiatives. 

Please consider running for a Board position. If you have any questions or would like to run for a position, email President Lana Rucks at lrucks@therucksgroup.com. Nominations are due by Friday, May 22, 2020.  Please include the following information:

Voting will commence the following week and results announced via email by June 15, 2020.

Service Opportunities

OPEG is a completely volunteer-run organization. Board and regular members serve OPEG in various ways:

  • OPEG Board officers meet via conference call every other month or as needed to make organizational decisions
  • Committees handle OPEG activities and functions
  • Past President Rob Fischer penned an Ode to OPEG when he left office in 2011
  • You can view the OPEG Code of Regulations here

We appreciate all our volunteers for their contribution of time and other resources. Service committees and other activities regularly need assistance. Please contact the point person listed if you would like to participate in any of OPEG's activities.


Each year OPEG presents awards to an Ohio evaluator who has substantially contributed to the field and an OPEG member who has provided outstanding service to the organization. See our Awards page describing our recent winners.
